Spa Guest Terms & Conditions

1. Voucher(s) valid for 12 months from purchase date with the exception of promotions.

2. Voucher(s) are non-refundable.

3. Arrival 08:45 – 09:30 – Departure 18:00

4. The club reserves the right of admission.

5. All guests redeeming a voucher against a service must have an appointment booked prior to use.

6. All guests must abide by the club rules.

7. All guests must be 18 years or older.

8. This voucher may not be exchanged for cash or used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.

9. Additional treatments can be purchased on or prior to your day depending on availability.

10.Alterations to packages are not permitted unless prior arrangements have been agreed with the Management.

11. A minimum of 48 hours’notice must be given for all cancellations failing which 25% of the voucher will be reduced.

12.Failure to advise or give notice of non-attendance will result in your voucher being cancelled.

13.Should you have any dietary requirements please advise us prior to your day.

14. Guests are not permitted to bring food or drink into the club.  The Management reserve the right to ask anyone found doing so to leave the premises immediately and without reimbursement.

15.  Should you wish to use your voucher after the expiration date there will be a charge of £10 per month to do so.

16. We will provide complimentary towelling robe and towel for your comfort whilst in the club.  Please bring  non-slip flip-flops or comfortable footwear whilst on the premises.

17. As point of contact you will be responsible for ensuring everyone in your party is aware of our Terms & Conditions.

18. Guest may use the carpark for the duration of their stay but, please note The Athenaeum Club will not accept responsibility for any vehicle at any time. Parking is at your own risk.

19. The Management reserve the right to close/cancel specific facilities or any part thereof at any time for any purpose without notice.  The owner shall be entitled to vary the time which individual facilities are available for any period connected with repair, alterations or maintenance.  There shall be no refund due for any variation in facilities available. Where possible notice will be given.

20. Use of the gymnasium/classes will only be permitted if an instructor is available on the day.

MEMBERSHIP

  1. The member will accept and be bound by the conditions relating to membership and to the rules of conduct within the Club premises. The purpose of the club rules is to ensure the wellbeing, comfort and enjoyment of all members and their guests.

  2. The joining fee becomes payable on acceptance of membership application

  3. Payment of subscriptions may be made by either, one single annual payment, or, by 12 equal monthly payments by direct debit.

  4. Should the annual subscription be paid in full at the commencement of the new term, the member may enjoy a discount on this item. Fees may be reviewed annually with any changes normally coming into effect on 1st of the month

  5. Any review of fees brought about by changes in legislation, such as VAT, will be actioned in accordance with statutory requirements

  6. Members can only gain entry to the Club by producing their membership card. If a member should lose his/her membership card, the loss must be reported to the club immediately and a replacement will be issued at a nominal cost.

  7. No member may introduce a guest who has had their club membership application rejected or has had their membership terminated or suspended.

  8. The number of guests visits admitted per member will be limited to 10 per annum. No individual guest may be introduced any more than 3 times in any period of one year, irrespective of which member introduces him or her. This may be varied according to circumstances or at the discretion of the Management and any changes will be notified to all members. A fee will be applicable for each guest admitted and payment of this fee will be the responsibility of the member introducing the guest.

  9. Members will comply with any direction the Management may give to ensure the smooth operation of the Club, the use of facilities and the convenience of members. 

CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP

  1. The Management has absolute discretion in rejecting any application or renewal of membership without ascribing any reason for doing so. In such cases any monies already paid will be refunded.

  2. Membership may be withdrawn at any time without notice, at the sole discretion of the Management and in the event of such a withdrawal, refund of the fees shall be at the sole discretion of the Management.

  3. The Management reserves the right of admission to the Club and may expel any member or guest whose conduct is such as shall, in its opinion, be damaging to the character of the Club or the interest of its members.

  4. Membership of the Club shall automatically be carried forward to the next year, unless cancellation of membership is made in writing at least one month prior to the membership renewal date. If payment or application part thereof has not been received by 1st of the month, membership will cease. 

  5. Membership is nontransferable and nonrefundable.

CHARGES​

  1. Members are responsible for the payment of appropriate charges when utilising club facilities. 

  2. The Management in its sole discretion may at any time vary the rules, guest fees, membership subscription or any other charges for the use of any or all of the facilities. Notice of such variation shall be given to members in advance.

CLUB OPENING TIMES​

  1. The Club will open each day with the exception of Christmas and New Year official holidays, which will be at the discretion of the management. 

LIABILITIES​

  1. Members and/or their guests are advised to undergo a medical examination prior to joining/using the Club, in particular anyone with heart disease, high or low blood pressure or diabetes. The Management reserve the right to require the withdrawal from the facility of any person whom may be concomitated constitutes a risk. The Management will not be held responsible for the death, injury, illness and/or mental impairments of any member and/or guest, caused or aggravated by, any prior injury or illness of the nominee, and/or guest, whether known or unknown, through the use of the facilities. 

  2. The Management cannot be held responsible for any service, facilities or equipment not available for whatever reason.

  3. The Management cannot accept liability for loss, theft, bodily injury, death or illness of any member and/or guest however caused, sustained or incurred, arising out of, or in any way connected with, the use, whether proper or otherwise, of any equipment and/or facilities, whether defective or not, of the Club

LICENSING REGULATIONS​

  1. The sale or supply of intoxicating liquor in the Club shall be permitted within the general licensing hours in force within the licensing district which the Club premises is situated and the bar opening hours shall be fixed by the management. Intoxicating liquor will only be sold in accordance with the terms and conditions (if any) imposed by the Justices License granted in respect of the Club premises.

BEHAVIOU​R

  1. Any member or guest found misusing equipment or acting in a manner unruly or likely to be injurious to the character of the Club or the interest of its members, will have their membership withdrawn from the Club indefinitely and no membership or guests refund will be given.

  2. Members and their guests are respectfully requested to keep noise to a minimum, particularly in the relaxation areas.

  3. Members are responsible for the behaviours of their guests and are not allowed to leave their guests in the Club if they themselves are no longer on the premises. 

DRESS

  1. Admission may be refused by the Management if they deem any ember to be improperly dressed. No outdoor footwear is permitted in the gym, spa and pool area. Swimwear, wet or otherwise is not permitted in the gymnasium, restaurant, lounge, library, saloon and reception area. Robes and tracksuits may not be worn in the restaurant, lounge or library, or library. Sports shoes with black soles should not be worn.

GENERAL​

  1. The Management reserves the right to close specific facilities or any part thereof at any time for any purpose without notice. The owners shall be entitled to vary the times at which the club is open, or individual facilities are available for any period connected with repair, alteration or maintenance of the facilities. There shall be no refund of the membership fee for any variation in the facilities available or the times at which they may be used. Where possible prior notice will be given 

  2. Members and their guests receive a free day use of changing room lockers. Towels, bathrobes and locker keys are provided and must be returned to the steward on departure of the Club. Failure to return these items will result in a replacement charge being debited to your account.

  3. Advance bookings are recommended for treatments, tennis, squash, fitness assessment, personal training sessions, restaurant and any other activities as stated 24 hours’ notice is required prior to cancellation of any bookable service, otherwise the full amount will be chargeable where applicable. 

  4. Members and their guests are advised in the interest of security not to leave money or valuables in the Club.

  5. Musical equipment (other than personal stereos) is not permitted within the Club premises.

  6. Access to the Club and grounds is strictly prohibited to persons under the age of 18 years. 

TOURNAMENT/ SOCIAL ACTIVITIES​

  1. The Club reserves the right at any time without prior notice to set aside facilities for tournaments, exhibitions or other social activities. 

SAFETY AND HYGIENE REGULATIONS​

  1. Members and their guests are requested

    1. to shower prior to using any of the facilities​

    2. not to use the sauna, steam or spa bath if they suffer from any of the following:

      • high or low blood pressure, cardiac problems, epilepsy, eczema, or if they are pregnant or under the influence of strong medication or alcohol​

    3. to remove all jewellery and metal before using the sauna and spa bath

    4. not to shave in the sauna, steam or spa

    5. not to dry towels or articles of clothing in the sauna

    6. swimwear must be worn in the communal sauna, steam and tylarium

    7. spend no longer than 15 minutes in the spa bath

  2. The Management shall not be liable for the effect or consequences to any person failing to follow such instructions:

    1. ​Not to use flippers, snorkels or masks in the pool​​

    2. beware of pool depth

    3. take care whilst moving in wet areas

    4. vacate the facility when requested by the Management or sounding of fire alarms

    5. no animals will be permitted in the Club

    6. Members and guests should not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs before exercising or swimming

    7. Members should receive instruction before using the gymnasium equipment (members may supervise their guests)

    8. Members should be aware that the pool is unsupervised and their guests swim at their own risk

    9. no running, jumping or diving will be permitted in the pool area

    10. mobile phones must be on silent throughout the club

    11. smoking is not permitted throughout the building, including the restaurant and relaxation areas
