Music of the World: An Evening of Music, Community and Giving Back

At The Atheneum Club we are proud and grateful to have a community of members who support a range of wonderful causes.
This month we would like to highlight the work of Mr and Mrs Taylor who have helped to organise the Music of the World Charity Concert in aid of Prostate Cancer Research at Southend Hospital. The event will take place at the Palace Hotel on Saturday 26th September from 7pm - 10:30pm, showcasing a range of local talent.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer amongst men in the UK and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths. Each year, around 47,600 men receive a diagnosis, and approximately 1,600 lose their lives to the disease. Ongoing research is thus essential which is why every penny from the Music of the World Concert will go to the Southend Hospital Prostate Cancer Research team through Mid & South Essex Hospital Charity.
All the musicians performing at the event have given their time freely, enabling attendees to enjoy great entertainment, while supporting some of the kind and generous talents of the local community. Rewynd, Arfur Doo & The Toerags, Cantare Choir and ‘C’ Level will be the four main acts, offering a range of music from classical to pop to rock. The acts will be separated by half an hour intervals, meaning that anyone can join for all or only part of the concert, with plenty of time for chatter and refreshments in between.
The event will also be hosting a raffle with 10 prizes to be won, ranging from a Dinner for Two gift card to Adventure Island Golden Tickets, and a Spa Day at The Athenaeum!
As a club we are so pleased to be able to sponsor such a great cause and support our wonderfully generous members who have put so much work into organising this event.
It is set to be a fantastic night of feel-good music, community, and giving back to a life-saving cause. For more information and to purchase your £25 visit https://events.humanitix.com/music-of-the-world-2026-in-aid-of-prostate-cancer-at-southend-hospital
